About Jenny

Growing up, I considered three career paths: President of the United States, attorney, and psychologist. (I also wanted to be an Olympic gymnast, but the uneven bars were just so high.) In high school, I decided the political arena was far too messy, and I did not want people to make “lawyer jokes” at my expense. Psychologist it was!

When I graduated from college with a Psychology degree, I thought my career would be very clinical. Identify pain points. Diagnose issues. Provide solutions. I never considered that I could (and would) do all those things in an entirely different field!

I've always loved reading and writing, and ever since middle school, I was eager to help others with their writing. But my classmates did not share that enthusiasm. They balked when I marked up their papers with a red pen. So I tucked that skill away until the Lord opened an unexpected door to the Christian publishing industry. I wondered, Could I really have a career in books?

I started as an administrative assistant and worked my way up to publishing specialist, learning everything from concept development to author relations to vendor negotiations. Then I had the opportunity to start editing full-time (with some writing sprinkled in). I realized, This is it! This is what I’m meant to do! I served as the department’s Editor and then Senior Editor. We produced sermon study guides, devotionals, Christian living books, and a Study Bible with more than 500 articles from 40-plus contributors.

I later transferred to another Christian publishing company and became the in-house writer and editor for their marriage and family imprint. It was an exciting new challenge to develop donor relations content and digital resources, in addition to full-length manuscripts and curricula on dating, marriage, parenting, in-laws, and family crisis management. And somewhere in all that, I provided editorial services for the eschatological imprint too!

As my experience widened, so did my vision. For anyone on the outside looking in, the publishing process can feel inaccessible and cumbersome. Traditional publishing houses only accept about 3 out of every 100 manuscript submissions. Some people have heard about self-publishing, but they have no idea how it works or how expensive it is. And sometimes it feels like everyone is trying to write a book, so what makes yours special?

For many, the dream ends too soon. Not because they don’t have a voice. Not because their message doesn’t matter. But because they don’t know where to start or who to trust to walk alongside them.

That’s when it became clear to me: authors need a partner. Someone who understands both the creative process and the publishing landscape. Someone who can offer guidance without gatekeeping. Encouragement without ego. Excellence without bureaucracy.

That’s why I launched Better Word Publishing—to demystify the process and serve authors of all stages with honesty and excellence. As a ghostwriter, I craft your voice for your vision. As an editor, I refine your ideas with precision and structure—making every word count. And as a publishing expert, I bridge the gap between your message and the audience you want to reach.

Whether you’re self-publishing your first book, refining a message you’ve carried for decades, or launching your own imprint, I’m here to help you bring your voice to life and your message to print.
